A very popular stock tank is the 300 gallon rubbermaid which is a 5' round poly tanks 2' deep. It's not to say that a 2' X 6' long tank wouldn't make a real nice turtle environment. With the closer sides, it is a little easier to construct a basking dock supported at each wall. With a round tank I just strapped it to one side.
